Update on the Colts' attempt to change the NFL's rules

The Indianapolis Colts attempted to significantly change the NFL rules with their recent rule change submission.

But it's not looking likely that it will come to fruition.

Word here at NFL owners meetings is the Colts’ proposal to allow reviews of all calls — including penalties — in the final 2 mins of halves has stalled and has minimal traction.

The Colts submitted a rule change that would allow teams the opportunity to challenge any flag thrown in the final two minutes. Many believed this submission stemmed from the team's belief that they had a win stolen from them last season vs. the Cleveland Browns.

Over the last couple of years, the league has made it clear they want to keep game playtimes down to keep the product as desirable as possible. If Colt's rule submission went through, it would undoubtedly increase game time, with officials already using replay more frequently in the final two minutes.

I do believe there needs to be a better system in place to allow teams to hold officials accountable when their poor work causes the outcomes of games to come into question. But it looks like something as extreme as what the Colts tried for this offseason isn't going to be entertained.
