Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was denied bail for a second time on Monday in his attempted murder case.
According to ESPN's Marc Raimondi, judge Shelyna Brown ruled against allowing Velasquez bail for a second time because of his "reckless disregard for human life." He is due back in court next month for a plea hearing.
Cain Velasquez’s attorney Mark Geragos tells ESPN that he found the court decision today to deny Velasquez bail for a second time “very disappointing” and “infuriating." Velasquez is due back in court June 10 for a plea hearing.

Velasquez was arrested on Feb. 28 and is charged with attempted murder and 10 other gun-related charges. The arrest stems from Velasquez chasing down a man, Harry Eugene Goularte, who is being charged with molesting one of Velasquez's young relatives. Velasquez shot into a car Goularte was driving and hit a passenger. The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The 39-year-old's attorney called the bail denial "infuriating", especially in light of the crimes Goularte himself committed.
Geragos: "It’s especially outrageous when you realize that the accused pedophile and his stepfather, who did nothing but protect [the alleged molester] at the day care center, are parading around like victims."

Velasquez could face more than 10 years of jail time if he is convicted. His plea hearing is scheduled for June 10.
According to ESPN, Goularte was reportedly released from police custody on Feb. 25 "against the DA's orders," just a few days before the incident with Velasquez. He had also been ordered to stay under house arrest. His own plea hearing is set for June 6.
